Operatives of the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) have apprehended three individuals for reportedly attempting to vandalise and steal cables in Ijagun, Ijebu-Ode.
The suspects—Wale Mosadoluwa, 31; Adeleje Okunuga, 30; and Anifowose Michael, 33—were taken into custody around 2:15 a.m. in Ijagun.
The Corps Commander, Dr Soji Ganzallo, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued in Abeokuta by the Director of Information and Communication, ACC Adegunwa Adegbuyi.
Ganzallo explained that a Special Squad team of the Ijebu Zonal Command, under the leadership of the Zonal Commander, DCC Yemi Odukoya, spotted the suspects during a routine patrol on Monday, March 2, 2026. He noted that the suspects were riding a motorcycle in a manner that raised suspicion, leading to their apprehension.
According to him, during questioning, Mosadoluwa allegedly admitted to being involved in cable theft since 2023.
He said the suspect revealed that a friend, Damilare, currently at a correctional centre, had previously instructed him to retrieve items, including a cutter used in the crime, from a concealed spot.
Ganzallo added that the suspects were apprehended before they could execute the alleged plan.
Items recovered from the suspects included a large cutter, a pair of pliers, a screwdriver, and a motorcycle.
He noted that the suspects, along with the recovered items, had been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, Igbeba Area Command, for further investigation and potential prosecution.
