Upcoming Nigerian Afrobeat singer, Kachman, has said that while trying to get his footing in the music industry he came across many wolves in sheep’s clothing.
In a chat with WuzupNaija, Kachman who broke onto the music scene in 2015 with his debut single titled “A Song for Mama” talks about his music career, the challenges and his favourite songstress in the music industry.

My name is Anukam Onyekachi Christopher a.k.a Kachman.
When did you join the music industry and how many songs have you released?
I joined the music industry officially in 2015. I have released two songs so far.
I’ll be dropping my fresh single titled “Fojele ” in two weeks
What’s Fojele about and what’s your music genre?
“Fojele” is an Afropop love song. It talks about a girl and what I can do to get her in my custody.
When you were going into music what were the challenges you faced and how did you family receive the news?
When I was going into the industry, I faced the challenges of management. I came across so many wolves in sheep’s clothing. I tried so hard to get showcase my talent but funds got into the hands of the insincere.
My family received the news immediately after I graduated from the University of Benin.
Fortunately for me I got the concrete blessings I deserved from my family.
In the next two years, where do you see yourself?
The next two years I see myself worldwide. I see myself as a role model to so many.
What record label are you signed to how many artistes are signed under the label?
I’m signed to Jahz Empire. Jahz Empire is owned by a UK based business tycoon and four artists are currently signed under Jahz Empire.
Do you have role models in the music industry and who would you like to have a collaboration with?
I have a lot of role models in the music industry. The likes of the late Fela Kuti, Tubaba, Asa, and so many others.

Which female music artiste would you like to be close to and who is your favourite songstress?
Yeah, of course, I love Yemi Alade. But my favorite songstress is Asa.

Are you impressed by the competition in the music industry and how do you plan to use it to your advantage?
Life itself is a competition. All I have is my talent, my best, my positive vibes and God.
What’s your advice for upcoming artistes?
My advice for upcoming artistes is being true to yourself. Your studio is your office and ultimately be a great giver.
