Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s potential return to the WrestleMania ring has suffered another setback, with his Hollywood commitments now threatening to clash with WWE’s biggest event.
During an interview with Variety, Vin Diesel disclosed that production on Fast Forever, the upcoming final installment of the Fast & Furious franchise, is scheduled to begin in December. Johnson is reportedly expected to join Diesel and Jason Statham in the movie’s cast.
The December production schedule could present a significant challenge for WWE if the company intends to feature The Rock at WrestleMania 43. Major film productions often last for months, meaning the shoot could continue through the holiday period and potentially into the early months of 2027.
Even if the production takes breaks during Christmas and New Year, Johnson would still require sufficient time to prepare for a return to professional wrestling. He would need to regain his in-ring conditioning, undergo training, return to WWE programming and participate in a storyline capable of generating significant interest ahead of WrestleMania.
Johnson’s availability will not be the only factor determining whether he appears at WrestleMania 43. WWE’s creative plans, business arrangements and the company’s broader strategy surrounding the event would also have to fall into place.
With filming for Fast Forever now expected to overlap with the crucial WrestleMania build-up, the chances of Johnson being physically and logistically ready for the Saudi Arabian pay-per-view appear to have taken another hit.
