American rock band The Killers will perform at the opening ceremony of the 2026 UEFA Champions League final, UEFA has confirmed.
According to GMS, the band will headline the Champions League “Kick Off Show,” a pre match entertainment event organised by UEFA and its sponsor Pepsi ahead of European club football’s biggest game.
Fronted by Brandon Flowers, The Killers rose to global fame with their 2004 debut album Hot Fuss, which featured the hit song Mr. Brightside.
UEFA and Pepsi announced the performance through a promotional video featuring the band alongside former England captain David Beckham. The video showed Flowers and Beckham racing towards the final venue using different modes of transportation.
Reacting to the announcement, the band said they were honoured to be part of the event.
“Some stages speak for themselves. We’re honoured to celebrate the incredible teams and players at what will undoubtedly be an epic match,” the group said in a statement.
The opening ceremony will also feature internationally acclaimed concert pianist Adam Gyorgy, who is set to perform the iconic UEFA Champions League anthem before kick off.
Gyorgy previously performed the anthem ahead of the 2023 Champions League final and will repeat the role in 2026 in his native Hungary.
The Champions League final is regarded as one of the most watched annual sporting events in the world, attracting millions of viewers globally.
