After 13 seasons and 13 years of entertaining audiences, the popular Nigerian TV series, ‘The Johnsons,’ is set to bid farewell. Charles Inojie, who played the role of Mr. Lucky Johnson, the head of the average Nigerian family portrayed in the show, announced on his Instagram handle.
Inojie expressed gratitude for the incredible journey, saying, “After 13 years of absolute magic, 13 years of awesomeness, 13 years of being Africa’s most-watched show on television, 13 years of being every family’s favourite, THE JOHNSONS is finally taking a bow.”
The TV series focused on the challenges faced by an average Nigerian family living in Lagos, bringing laughter and entertainment to households across the continent.
Mr. Lucky Johnson, portrayed by Inojie, added a unique flavor to the show with his role as a scientist known for his eccentric choice of words. The character later became a renowned scientist after creating Jedimaicin, a cure for “jedijedi.”
Inojie expressed gratitude to the cast and crew, acknowledging their contribution to making ‘The Johnsons’ outstanding. He also thanked the fans across the African continent for their unconditional love and support.
“I am immensely grateful to our fans across the African continent for the love and support we got unconditionally. Indeed, while it is the beginning of greater exploits from every individual member of the team, like every good thing that must have a terminal point, it is the end of the road for THE JOHNSONS.”
The announcement marks the conclusion of an era for the beloved TV series, which featured a talented cast, including the late Ada Ameh, Kunle Bamtefa, Chinedu Ikedieze, and others.
‘The Johnsons’ received recognition in 2023 when it was nominated for the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards for Best Original Comedy Series.
