THE FULL MOUSTACHE DIDN’T TIP THEM OFF! AIFF suspends 28-year-old footballer for six months after lying he is 16
Gourav Mukhi, the player who allegedly became the youngest player at 16 to score in the Indian Super League when he netted for Jamshedpur FC, has been found to be lying about his age.
Mukhi through his previous confession to age fraud to AIFF was suspended by the governing body for six months.
He had already been pulled out of an India U16 National Camp in 2015 for being over-aged.
Now, reports have emerged that Mukhi’s real age is 28.
According to Jayesh Takhur’s piece in the Telegraph chronicling Mukhi’s rise, he clearly refers to the striker as being 28 years old.
And considering that the piece was published before this season of ISL kicked off, and on the back of his inclusion in Jamshedpur FC, the statistics presented in the piece ring out as true devoid of any deeper motive.
The club registration of the Indian footballer pretending to be 16 has also been revoked with immediate effect after the striker was suspended.
Confirming this in a statement made available to Mail Online Football, All India Football Federation said;
‘All India Football Federation (AIFF) Disciplinary Committee has imposed a six-month suspension on Jamshedpur FC player Gourav Mukhi with immediate effect.
‘The AIFF Disciplinary Committee found the player Gourav Mukhi guilty on the basis of the evidence presented by him, his admissions and the statements of Manager of U-16 AIFF academy in 2015.
‘The AIFF Disciplinary Committee also observed that the existing registration of Gourav Mukhi, both in the Central Registration System (CRS) as well as the Competition Management System (CMS) shall stand cancelled and revoked with immediate effect, with liberty upon the player/his appropriate club, to submit original valid appropriate documents for fresh registration under CRS and CMS.’
