Nigerian singer and rapper Gabriel Oche Amanyi, popularly known as Terry G, has reacted to a viral video showing Governor Hyacinth Alia dismissing claims of religious genocide in Benue State.

Governor Alia, a Catholic priest-turned-politician, made the remarks during a consultative forum on the protection of the rights of Internally Displaced Persons and Forcibly Displaced Persons organised by the National Human Rights Commission in Abuja.

Responding in a video, Terry G, who hails from Benue, questioned the governor’s comments, saying, “Una go just dey cap rubbish.”

He further asked why the governor would deny the situation in the state. “Reverend, for that matter, why una too dey lie? Why can’t you guys admit, for once, and apply correction? There is nothing like Christian genocide in Benue, so that means you are not hearing all the news that is going on. What kind of governor is that one now? Una go just dey cap rubbish.”

In the caption accompanying his video, the musician added, “We refuse to be quieted. The Christian community in Benue is under attack — no amount of denial can hide that reality.”

Terry G’s reaction comes amid renewed conversations about alleged persecution of Christians in Nigeria, a topic that has recently drawn international attention, including comments by American rapper Nicki Minaj during a United Nations event.
