Suspected Lakurawa terrorists have killed two Nigerian soldiers and a Chinese national during an attack on construction workers in Maiyama Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
According to Vanguard, the attack occurred on Thursday, October 8, when armed men reportedly entered the area from neighbouring Sokoto State.
The attackers targeted construction workers engaged on the Badagry Super Highway project in Kebbi State.
The spokesperson for the Kebbi State Police Command, SP Bashir Usman, confirmed the incident during a telephone interview.
Usman explained that the soldiers were providing security for the Chinese national and other construction workers when the gunmen struck.
The attackers reportedly opened fire, killing the two soldiers and the expatriate while leaving several other people injured.

The police spokesperson said the suspected terrorists entered Kebbi through a border community connected to Sokoto State.
“Yes, the attack occurred, but the terrorists are not from Kebbi State,” Usman said.
He explained that the identities of the deceased soldiers could not immediately be released because they were military personnel.
Usman condemned the attack, describing it as barbaric and unwarranted.
He disclosed that security agencies had commenced a joint operation to track down those responsible.
The Lakurawa armed group has been linked to security threats in parts of northwestern Nigeria, particularly communities near the Niger Republic border.
Authorities have previously expressed concerns about the activities of armed groups operating across communities in the region.
The latest incident highlights continuing security challenges facing workers and residents in areas vulnerable to terrorist attacks.
Security personnel are pursuing the suspected attackers, while further details concerning the injured victims have yet to be released.
