Popular musician and artist, Teniola Apata with stage name Teni has responded to the backlashes that emanated after she posted a video of her meeting socialite Ibrahim Dende Egungbohun, aka IBD Dende, on a plane.
WuzupNigeria recalls that IBD Dende has been alleged of smuggling in firearms into the country with the help of the Nigerian Custom by an investigative journalist, Fisayo Soyombo.
As a result, Netizens on X, formerly Twitter, reacted to the video negatively, forcing Teni to clap back by stating that she sponsors twenty private students and ten secondary school students.
Reacting to the post, an X user Carlo Gambino wrote, “Fisayo Soyombo spent 6 weeks reeling out many allegations of smuggling against this man; backed up with audio-visual evidences. His businesses and source of wealth have negative consequences for our country, corrupt authorities didn’t say anything and then here you are legitimising him. You should be ashamed of yourself.”
Still condemning the artist’s actions, another X user Lola M.Olawale wrote, “ I’m so disappointed but not surprised, I never rate all you so called celebrities, it’s the naive youths that fall head over heels for y’all I blame.
You’re rolling on the floor for a criminal??!! Such a SHAME! Always thought you were one of the few upright ones.. SMH.”
The artist however in the response to the clapbacks said “ I got 20 kids in school, 10 Private university students, 3 in Babcock, 3 in C.U, 3 in Reedemers and 1 in AUN.
“10 Kids in Private Secondary School, 3 in the East, 3 in the East and 1 in Jos. All in boarding school. I pay and take care of their fees, and im active in their lives.
What have you done ???? As a citizen of this country.”
Her response has however generated further attacks from netizens on X.
X user Mozie Reddington wrote “Drop the shovel before you dig yourself into an even bigger hole. You messed up, it would have been better to not even say anything than to say something like this. So you shouldn’t be called out on your BS because you pay school fees?”
Another X user Samuel Ajayo also wrote, “ Watermelon ni. Even armed robbers use the money they steal to do some good. Long before you were born, people have been sponsoring children, not theirs, to schools. Many “poor” people by your standard do so today too. So this is your justification for trying to launder the image of a known smuggler?
Money!!!”
