Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has called for an apology from Fulham following the posting of a TikTok video that appears to mock Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes.

The video in question depicts Fernandes going down and clutching his leg before promptly rising during United’s recent 2-1 defeat by Fulham. Accompanied by jaunty music, the clip bears the caption: “So glad he’s OK.”

Expressing his disapproval, Ten Hag described the video as “not right” and “totally out of order.” He insisted that Fulham should apologize for their actions.

“It is not right. Totally out of order and wrong. They should apologise for this,” said United manager Ten Hag.

The 15-second video surfaced on Fulham’s official TikTok account on Monday and has sparked controversy since.

Although Ten Hag had not personally viewed the clip, he was informed about its existence during a media conference on Thursday.

The incident depicted in the video shows Fernandes coming into contact with Fulham midfielder Sasa Lukic, resulting in Fernandes going to ground. Despite the lack of a free-kick being awarded, Fernandes swiftly gets to his feet and resumes play.

Responding to inquiries about Fernandes potentially gaining a reputation for simulation, Ten Hag asserted that rival players are specifically targeting him. He emphasized the need for referees to provide adequate protection to Fernandes during matches.

With Manchester United gearing up for the upcoming derby against Manchester City on Sunday, Ten Hag urged for fair treatment of Fernandes on the field.

He maintained that Fernandes is a passionate and creative player, leading the Premier League in chances created.
