The circumstances surrounding the death of Nollywood actress Temitope Osoba have taken a new turn. This follows after her fiancé, Prophet Itunu Onadeko, claimed she died at a police station in Ikorodu, Lagos State.

Onadeko made the claim during an interview with the Celestial Reality Check on Saturday. He rejected reports that the actress died from complications linked to breast cancer or after being maltreated before her death.

Onadeko said he was informed of Osoba’s death around midnight by an unidentified caller. The caller told him she had died at a police station.

“It was a random person that called me around 12 am that she died in a police station in Ikorodu,” he said.

However, he admitted that he did not know the exact police station where she allegedly died.

Fiancé recounts actress’ final movements

Onadeko said Osoba had earlier gone to visit a woman identified as Mrs Kehinde Osoba. She was accompanied by a hairdresser she had been staying with.

He said he remained in contact with the actress during the period. However, he could not accompany her because of church activities.

According to him, he later received the call informing him of her death. He subsequently reported himself at a nearby police station.

The claim has added uncertainty to the circumstances surrounding Osoba’s death. Previously, public discussions had linked her death to her previous battle with breast cancer.

Onadeko rejects cancer as cause of death

Osoba had previously spoken publicly about undergoing treatment and surgery for breast cancer.

Onadeko confirmed that she underwent surgery but insisted the illness should not be regarded as the cause of her death.

He said he met Osoba before her surgery and prayed with her during her treatment period.

He also denied allegations that money donated for her medical treatment was diverted to him or used to develop his church.

According to him, donations were paid directly into Osoba’s account and he never had control over the funds.

He further rejected claims that she was poisoned or subjected to degrading treatment before her death.

Onadeko also addressed reports about her personal life. He said Osoba had struggled with smoking and that he had encouraged her to stop.

Death circumstances remain unconfirmed

The pastor said Osoba had left his church about three weeks before her death. Communication with some of her relatives became difficult after she died.

Despite his claims, the exact circumstances surrounding the actress’ death have not been independently established.

No official cause of death has been publicly confirmed. Onadeko’s claim that she died at a police station also remains unverified.

Osoba died on Wednesday at the age of 40. She is expected to be buried on Thursday, August 13, in Iperu Remo, Ogun State.

Until further information emerges from the police, family or medical authorities, questions surrounding where and how the actress died remain unresolved.
