American superstar Taylor Swift has donated $5 million to help victims of Hurricanes Helene and Milton, which have caused massive destruction in the southeastern United States.
The funds will go towards providing essential supplies and helping communities rebuild after the devastating storms.
Hurricane Milton made landfall on Florida’s west coast on Wednesday night, bringing with it warnings of extreme flooding and dangerous conditions. This follows the impact of Hurricane Helene, which hit the region just a few weeks earlier.
Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, the CEO of Feeding America, praised Swift’s generous donation. “We’re incredibly grateful to Taylor Swift for her generous five-million-dollar donation to Hurricanes Helene and Milton relief efforts,” she said. “This contribution will help communities rebuild and recover, providing essential food, clean water, and supplies to people affected by these devastating storms.”
Babineaux-Fontenot urged others to follow Swift’s lead by contributing to the relief efforts, adding, “Together, we can make a real impact in supporting families as they navigate the challenges ahead.”
Swift’s donation follows similar acts of kindness from other celebrities, including Dolly Parton, who recently gave $1 million to help victims of Hurricane Helene.
Swift, who is about to begin the final leg of her Eras Tour, has a history of supporting charitable causes. This summer, she donated to food banks in cities where she performed in the UK and recently gave $100,000 to the family of a woman who died during the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl celebrations.
Swift attended the Super Bowl to support her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, a player for the Kansas City Chiefs.
