Taylor Swift bags AMAs Artist of The Year award

For the third consecutive time, American star Taylor Swift has been crowned the Artist of the Year at the American Music Awards.

Swift who Folklore album was the first album to sell more than a million copies in 2020, dedicated the award to her fans who she’s “really, really lucky” to have.

The 30-year-old was absent at the event confirmed she is in the middle of re-recording her back catalogue.

It’s the sixth time Swift has been named Artist of the Year, thanks to votes from her fans and the “fan-voted award …means so much to me.”

Swift said: “You guys have been beyond wonderful all the years of my career but especially this one, when we’ve been so far apart, we haven’t been able to see each other in concert but I still feel really connected to you through the music and your reaction to Folklore and all the ways in which your imagination honoured that album.

“I just love you so much and I’m really, really lucky because of you.”

Explaining the reason why she was not at the ceremony Swift added: “I’m actually re-recording all of my old music in the studio where we originally recorded it, so it’s been amazing and I can’t wait for you to hear it.” [RTE]
