The Public Relations Officer of the Delta State Police Command, Bright Edafe has shared a story of man arrested for gifting wife abducted person’s phone

In a post shared on the image maker personal X.com page on Friday, he asked a question about a man who was arrested for suspected kidnapping through buying a phone of an unnamed kidnapped lady.

He wrote, “Topic for discussion!!!
So this taxi driver was arrested for suspected involvement in Kidnapping. Why was he arrested? A lady was kidnapped and was released after she paid ransom and they collected her phone from her. The phone was recovered from the wife of the taxi driver. Madam said her husband bought the phone for her. The husband was arrested and he claimed a passenger left the phone in his car. Now how can he prove that truly the phone was left in his car, how can he prove that he was not part of the kidnappers???? See why we all should be careful with phones that are not ours?.”

The question posed by Edafe has generated reactions from citizens on social media who shared their views on the matter.

An X user, @onewithGod wrote, “If truly someone left the phone, then the questions is why did he hurriedly lied to the wife that he bought it for her? Why didn’t he report to the police or wait to receive call from the owner in order to return it? Many many questions.”

Sharing his view, @akhator said, “The taxi driver is a thief. Assume he gave the phone to the police prior to his arrest, he would have been exonerated. Further forensic analysis will reveal if he took part in the kidnapping. Right now, I will not make conclusions.”

Commenting on the discussion, @Dennis Daso wrote, “If the man is innocent , greed of taking another person’s property landed him in the trouble he is now . He definitely have the tendency to steal . Further investigation by the police will reveal more. His finances and recent purchase should be checked . Call log as well.”

In his own opinion, @Yemolysis said, “Is there any forensic of the phone and how many finger prints the phone has, where is the last location detected on the subscribers location portal.

Abeg @Brightgoldenboy kindly furnish us with forensic details of the culprits and the movement of the phone d day b4 lost 😀😃😀.”

Another user said, “@ekehanthony said, “The burden of proof that he is the kidnapper sole rest on you. Hopefully, your men will not tell the lady to accuse the taxi man of being one of her kidnappers if really he isn’t.
Kidnappers may also have planted the phone in the taxi to cut off the trail. Do more investigation.”
