Task force shuts down 57 medicine stores in Delta
The Delta State Task Force on Counterfeit, Fake Drugs, and Unwholesome Processed Foods has taken action against 57 patent medicine stores in Asaba and its surroundings.
City & Crime reports that the Secretary of the task force, Pharmacist Felix Emeye, revealed this following a two-day operation aimed at eliminating the presence of unwholesome processed foods in the state.
The stores in question were located on various streets, including Okpanam Road, Marble Hill, Specialist Hospital Road, Ibusa Road, Bonsac, Oduke, and more.
These stores faced closures due to a range of offenses, which include selling medicines without the required license, operating without approval, and failing to display the necessary licenses for selling medicine.
Among the offenses listed by Emeye were the sale of medicines from unregistered locations, hawking of medicines, advertising supposed cures for diseases, and selling medicines without the approval of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control.
