Tach rants at Gov Wike as Rivers State bans #EndSARS protest

Reality TV star, Tacha has expressed displeasure at the ban on protests in Rivers State which prevented a proposed EndSARS protest from taking place in the state.

Governor Nyesom Wike through his Commissioner of Information, Paulinus Nsirim, announced a banned all forms protests in the state yesterday.

He also said that law enforcement agencies will be on ground to enforce the ban as he warned parents and guardians to ensure that their wards adhere to it.

The announcement didn’t sit well with Tacha who had flown into the state to lead an EndSARS protest.

She ranted on Twitter:

“With all Due respect your Excellency, you are a lawyer and I believe you know better, this is a DEMOCRACY SYSTEM and Rivers State belongs to all the Daughters and Sons of the state. It is our RIGHT TO PEACEFULLY PROTEST AGAINST POLICE BRUTALITY. Every CITIZEN has a RIGHT to PEACEFULLY PROTEST.

The reality TV star reminded the governor how the people of the state defended their votes which got him elected.

Gov. Wike Sons and Daughters of RIVERS STATE STOOD THROUGH THE NIGHT TO DEFEND OUR VOTES FOR YOU! only for you to DEPRIVE US OF OUR RIGHT TO PEACEFULLY PROTEST.

She continued:

Gov. Wike, we flew into this state today to FIGHT FOR A BETTER NIGERIA! TO WALK THE WALK! TO FIGHT FOR A BETTER TODAY AND TOMORROW!! Why should we be DEPRIVED OUR RIGHT!! why.

IT IS MY DUTY and the DUTY of every NIGERIAN to FIGHT for our BASIC HUMAN RIGHTS! We do not deserve to be OPPRESSED!!”

Tah later announced that the protest has been canceled.
