The suspended Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Nasarawa State, Adamu Bako, has officially stepped down from the party.

His resignation was conveyed in a letter dated April 15, 2026, and addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman in Agyaga, located in Akwanga Local Government Area.

In the correspondence, Bako characterized his departure as a difficult yet necessary decision.

He explained that the move was driven by concerns for peace, his personal safety, and the need to identify with a political platform that aligns with his leadership ideals.

The former chairman noted that leaving the party would allow him to advance politically alongside his supporters and mentees.

He added that his new path offers a structure more consistent with his long-term vision and aspirations.

Bako emphasized that, despite his exit, he had maintained years of loyalty to the PDP, describing it as a party he once deeply respected and defended up until the end of his membership.

His resignation follows closely on the heels of his suspension by the party over allegations of gross misconduct and anti-party activities.

The development marks another chapter in the ongoing internal crisis affecting the PDP in Nasarawa State.
