The body of 94-year-old woman, Mrs Ayodele Ashaolu, has been found in Ikun Ekiti, Moba Local Government Area of Ekiti State.
The body was discovered without the head in her apartment.
Residents of the community are suspecting that the woman who lived alone must have been killed for ritual purposes.
The Ekiti State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Abutu, when contacted, confirmed the incident.
He said the command had swung into action to unravel the those behind the death of the elderly woman.
Accohrding to the Abutu, the matter was reported to the police by one of the children of the deceased, Daily Post reports.
