Published

A 36-year-old businesswoman, Lois Iliya, has been ordered by a Chief Magistrates’ Court in Kafanchan, Kaduna State, to be remanded in a correctional center over allegations of lesbianism with a minor.

The defendant is facing charges of unnatural offense, as outlined in section 259 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law, brought against her by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp.

The NSCDC prosecutor, Insp. Marcus Audu, informed the court that the complaint was made by Alice Daniel, who reported the matter to the Corp’s office in Kafanchan on September 13.

Audu explained that the defendant, who resides in Katsit, had a habit of luring the complainant’s eight-year-old daughter into her room and engaging in sexual acts with her using her fingers.

Furthermore, Audu revealed that the defendant had been subjecting the girl to this abuse on a daily basis since May, and she also touched and rubbed the girl’s breasts with her hands, causing them to grow.

Upon discovering the abuse, the girl’s mother took her to the Salama Sexual Assault Referral Centre for a medical examination. Subsequently, the matter was referred to the NSCDC for investigation.

The chief magistrate, Samson Kwasu, did not allow the defendant to enter a plea due to the lack of jurisdiction to handle the matter. Instead, Mr. Kwasu directed the prosecutor to send a copy of the case file to the State Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice.
