Suspected Boko Haram terrorists have attacked a community in the Garage District of Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

The community, which is the hometown of a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, was reportedly invaded by the terrorists on Christmas Day.

Sources said the attackers stormed Mayo Ladde village, which shares a boundary with Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno State and the Sambisa Forest, catching security operatives in the area off guard, according to Daily Post.

Confirming the incident, the Chairman of Hong Local Government Area, Mr. Usman Waaganda, said there were no reported casualties from the attack.

He explained that the terrorists were repelled by troops of Operation Hadin Kai working alongside other security agencies.

Also confirming the incident, the Adamawa State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said Mayo Ladde experienced violence during the Christmas period but noted that the situation had since been brought under control.

Hong Local Government Area is located in the northern part of Adamawa State, a region where Boko Haram insurgents are known to operate.
