A video circulating on social media shows an unidentified individual attempting to set fire to the building of the National Security Service of Armenia just a few hours ago, APA reports.
Authorities later apprehended a suspect believed to be connected to the incident and transferred him to a pre-trial detention facility.
According to Armenian media reports, the detained individual had recently arrived in Armenia from Russia and is described as a supporter of the well-known billionaire Samvel Karapetyan, nicknamed “Tashir Samo,” who is known in both Russia and Armenia. Investigations into the motive and circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.
Another video that has spread online shows a man throwing a Molotov cocktail at the National Security Service building in Armenia’s capital, Yerevan, APA reports.
Interior Ministry spokesman Narek Sargsyan confirmed that the suspect has been detained and handed over for investigation.
