Liverpool captain, Jordan Henderson, is reportedly set to lead an emergency meeting involving all Premier League captains over the controversial European Super League plans.

The meeting between Henderson and his fellow Premier League captains would reportedly hold on Wednesday, per The Athletic’s David Ornstein.

Few of the footballers in the affected clubs have spoken against the move. However, Daily Mail reports the meeting would reveal that players’ response to the recently-announced plans which could see the six EPL clubs dump the Champions League.

Liverpool along with Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham are six of the 12 founding members of the controversial new elite tournament.

Further reports revealed that most of the players and coaches of these EPL clubs were not duly informed prior to the huge announcement over the weekend.

The move, according to GiveMeSports, led Man United’s captain Harry Maguire to reportedly confront the club’s Chief Executive, Ed Woodward, during a meeting on Monday after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the players weren’t told about the plans before Sunday’s Premier League clash against Burnley.

Maguire, along with Man City’s Fernandinho, Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris, Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Chelsea’s Cesar Azpilicueta could all join Henderson in the meeting as captains of their clubs, the report added.

GMS added that the remaining 14 captains whose clubs are not part of the plan would be involved in the meeting.
