Nigerian winger Samuel Kalu has signed a new contract with Bulgarian club Botev Plovdiv, committing his future to the Yellow and Blacks until 2029.
Kalu had been heavily linked with a move away from the club, with fellow Bulgarian outfit Levski Sofia and several Swiss clubs reportedly monitoring his situation.
Botev Plovdiv have, however, moved swiftly to secure the Nigeria international’s long-term future by handing him a new three-year deal.
The 28-year-old joined the two-time Bulgarian champions last summer following his departure from Sky Bet Championship side Watford.
Kalu made 26 appearances across all competitions during his debut campaign at Botev Plovdiv, scoring two goals while impressing with his pace and creativity on the flanks.
Before moving to Bulgaria, the former Super Eagles winger played for AS Trenčín, Belgian side KAA Gent, French club Girondins Bordeaux, and English outfit Watford.
On the international stage, Kalu has featured in 17 matches for the Super Eagles, registering two goals.
