Nigerian forward Umar Sadiq has officially joined Spanish La Liga club Valencia on loan from Real Sociedad.
The deal, which is the first signing under Valencia’s new manager Carlos Corberan, marks a fresh start for the Super Eagles star.
Real Sociedad decided to part ways with Sadiq after his struggles at the club, where injuries limited his impact since joining in 2022.
Last season, Sadiq managed just three goals, prompting Sociedad to signal their willingness to let him leave.
Valencia seized the opportunity, bringing the 27-year-old on loan until the end of the current campaign.
Valencia has struggled in front of goal this season, scoring only 17 goals in 18 La Liga matches. Manager Corberan is optimistic that Sadiq’s arrival will help solve the team’s scoring issues.
The loan agreement includes a purchase option for Valencia, reportedly set at under €10 million. The club will also pay a €1 million loan fee to secure Sadiq’s services for the remainder of the season.
