Super Eagles friendly with Argentina called off second time
The anticipated friendly match between the Nigeria senior men’s national team, the Super Eagles, and the Argentina national team has been canceled for the second time.
Initially scheduled to take place in China, the international warm-up game was rescheduled to be held in the United States of America on March 26, 2024.
A high-ranking official of the Nigeria Football Federation, speaking anonymously revealed that the match was called off because the organizers were unable to secure visas for the individuals on the list provided to them.
“The NFF has recently received notification that the friendly match between Nigeria and Argentina, scheduled to take place in the United States of America, has been canceled due to the organizers’ inability to obtain visas for us.”
“The organizers informed us that the US visa issuance regulations are stringent, leading to the cancellation of the friendly match.”
He added, “As long as the date aligns with FIFA’s international games window, we are exploring the possibility of arranging for another country to replace the World champions and engage in a friendly match with the Super Eagles.”
