The senior national team of Nigeria emerged victorious in the Unity Cup held in England, defeating Jamaica 5-4 on penalties after a thrilling 2-2 draw in regulation time

Moses Simon gave the Super Eagles an early lead in the 9th minute, capitalizing on some fine work by Cyriel Dessers. However, the advantage was short-lived as Jamaica responded swiftly with Kaheim Dixon drawing them level just three minutes later in the 12th minute.

With both sides unable to break the deadlock again before halftime, the teams went into the break tied at 1-1.

The Super Eagles regained the lead shortly after the restart in the 53rd minute, thanks to a well-taken strike from Samuel Chukwueze. But once again, the Jamaicans responded, with Jon Russell heading home unchallenged in Nigeria’s box to restore parity just ten minutes later.

The match headed straight to a penalty shootout, where Nigeria converted all five of their spot kicks, while Jamaica faltered once—handing the win to the Super Eagles.

Debutant Uche Chrisantus held his nerve to score the decisive penalty for Nigeria. Kelechi Iheanacho, Moses Simon, Tolu Arokodare, and Bruno Onyemaechi all dispatched their kicks with confidence, sealing a memorable triumph for the national team.
