The Edo State Police Command has described Miss. Christabel Omoremime Buoro’s suicide note as “incoherent.”

The Command’s Spokesman, DSP Chidi Nwanbuzor, disclosed this while reacting to an inquiry from newsmen on phone.

“The suicide was not incoherent,” he said.

The 21-year-old student of University of Benin (UNIBEN), has allegedly committed suicide by drinking substance suspected to be a mixture of the deadly insecticide, sniper and Sprite.

Her lifeless body was discovered Tuesday evening, in her hostel, located at Plot 4 Uwaifo Lane, off Newton Street, Ekosodin, a sprawling student community behind the Ugbowo campus of the University.

Unconfirmed report had it that Christabel mixed the deadly insecticide popularly, Snipper with Sprite.

It was also gathered that an empty sachet of Klin detergent was recovered inside the room.

Nwanbuzor, however, disclosed that the police have begun an investigation to unravel what made the deceased to take her own life allegedly after suffering a heart break from an unidentified lover.

Nwanbuzor who confirmed that the police have recovered her lifeless body on the floor declined to comment on whether an autopsy would be carried out.

He, however, dismissed rumours that some suspects were arrested in connection with the death of the 300-level student of Medical Laboratory Science.

A source in the compound name with head told daily post that the dead body of miss Christabell was discovered after she allegedly took the deadly substance to end her life.

He wondered how “a small girl of that age will take her life, all because of one boy.”

He said:

“The policemen who came to evacuate the body were very angry after reading out loud the note she dropped. She stated that she was about taking her life because the guy she loved didn’t love her in return, that her boyfriend broke up with her.

“Thank God she even dropped a note, if not, the roommates would have be in hot soup, because investigation would have begun from that point.”

When contacted, UNIBEN’s PRO, Michael Osasuyi, told journalists that the institution is “waiting to be briefed on what really happened, since the incident did not happen within the school premises.”

Meanwhile, a Principal Officer in the University of Benin who did not want to be named told our correspondent that the late student lost her father months ago.

“He relatives have visited the school. We are surprised. Remember that the girl did not die in the Campus. Police are handling the investigation. She was our student,” he said.
