A suicide attack at the Federal Constabulary headquarters in Peshawar on Monday killed three officers and injured four others, police said.

Peshawar police chief Mian Saeed said the officers were on duty at the main gate when the bomber struck. He explained that one attacker detonated his explosives while two others were shot dead by security forces.

The blast happened at 8:10 am on Saddar Road, one of the busiest routes in the city. An AFP reporter at the scene said body parts of a suspected bomber were seen near the gate, which was covered in shrapnel holes.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police chief Zulfiqar Hameed said, “The attack has concluded, and a clearance operation is underway to determine whether any unexploded ordnance is present.”

No group has taken responsibility yet.

Peshawar, which borders Afghanistan, has faced years of militant violence, with attacks rising since the Taliban returned to power in Kabul in 2021.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the attack and praised the quick response of security personnel. He said, “The perpetrators of this incident should be identified as soon as possible and brought to justice.” He added, “We will thwart the evil designs of terrorists who attack Pakistan’s integrity.”
