It will appear that Nigerians are fed up with the antics of the embattled lawmaker representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Dino Melaye, as the senator’s latest post on Twitter has generated backlashes and criticisms.
Melaye had taken to the microblogging platform on Wednesday to alert the media and his followers that the police were attempting to breaking into his house to forcefully arrest him.
He tweeted:
“Police bringing in toolboxes to break doors and vandalize my house. Police EOD truck just brought them. Media take note.”

WuzupNaija recalls that Melaye had been holed up in his Abuja residence since Friday 28th December 2018 when police attempted to arrest him over alleged attempted culpable homicide.
The police, in a statement by its spokesperson, Jimoh Moshood, accused the senator, alongside his ‘armed thugs’, of shooting one Sergeant Danjuma Saliu in July 2018.
The police claimed they have a warrant for Melaye’s arrest and won’t be leaving the lawmaker’s residence until he is arrested
Reacting to Melaye’s latest tweet, Nigerians on Twitter asked the lawmaker to stop the drama and come out of his hideout.
Many suggested that Melaye could have handled the situation properly by honouring police invitation and getting his lawyer to apply for his bail.

What difference does it make if he’s held in his own house? Is it not better for him to surrender himself and let his lawyer file for his bail? He’s only fooling himself by thinking that he would get public sympathy by his updates on the ‘seige’.

How does this type of issue become celebrated? Police can invite any citizen for questioning, when and how can Mr Dino became larger than life. Though it’s late to be honorable, but shamefully come out and stop this senseless drama

Mr Senator, why don’t you submit yourself to the law. If a senator like you can’t obey a police invite, what do you expect non political office holders to do ?

Hello Senator Dino… Kindly offer yourself to the police, ask your lawyer to be ready to follow you all through..
Call your supporters to follow as you are being taken to the station..
Resisting arrest is against the law… If they av a warrant then surrender please…
