The Christian Youths Initiative for Peace, Bauchi State Chapter, has cautioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and other Federal Government agencies against associating Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, with alleged financing of terrorism.
The group, which joined other organisations in defending the governor against the allegations, described the claims as unfounded and politically motivated.
CYIFP made its position known during a press conference addressed by its Chairman, Philip Yohanna, and Secretary, Luka Musa Jr., on Tuesday at the E4 Resort Events Centre in Bauchi.
“We, the Christian Youths Initiative for Peace (CYIFP) Bauchi State Chapter, have gathered here today to address the recent allegation linking Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed (Kauran Daular Usmaniyya) to financing terrorism, as alleged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ( EFCC ) on the 1st day of January 2026.”
The group said it was familiar with the governor’s efforts in addressing security challenges in the state and therefore rejected the allegations outright.
”Having known the pragmatic steps and relentless commitments of our amiable Governor on issues relating to security in the State, we therefore render these claims as baseless, malicious, and an affront to truth and the image of our dear State, which is rated as one of the most peaceful States in Northern Nigeria amidst ravaging attacks by bandits and terrorists in the Country.”
CYIFP further highlighted what it described as Governor Mohammed’s inclusive leadership style and support for peaceful coexistence.
“His Excellency, Governor Bala Mohammed has consistently demonstrated commitment to inter-faith harmony, support for Christian institutions and events, fairness and justice on human rights and dedication to peace and security of the Bauchi State.”
The group alleged that the claims were politically driven and aimed at destabilising the state.
“We regard these claims as political persecution and also an orchestrated plan by the enemies of Bauchi State to plunge the State into total chaos and attacks for their political gains”.
CYIFP also accused political actors outside the state of sponsoring the allegations.
“Furthermore, we regard the claims as false and political vendetta championed by the FCT Minister, His Excellency, Nyesom Wike in collaboration with fraudulent individuals from the State who are bent on tarnishing the image of Bauchi State and Governor Bala Mohammed as a way to exonerate themselves from the crimes they have committed against the State and our corporate existence as citizens of Bauchi State.”
The group said it would resist any attempt capable of disrupting peace in Bauchi State.
“As Christian youths whose aim is to promote unity and peaceful coexistence among diverse religions, we condemn these claims in strong terms and also resist any attempt that is capable of disrupting the relative peace we are enjoying in Bauchi State.”
It also rejected what it described as attempts to damage the governor’s reputation at the national level.
“Moreover, we debunk the rhetoric aimed to drag the hard-earned reputation of Governor Bala Mohammed in the mud, as an opposition leader in the political arena of the country, knowing him as a person with high integrity that is detribalized and religious tolerant”.
Reaffirming their support, the group said it stood firmly with the governor.
“We acknowledge Governor Bala’s efforts in promoting unity and development in Bauchi State. And we stand with him against these unfounded claims and reaffirm our trust in his leadership.”
The group urged members of the public to ignore the allegations and continue to support the governor.
According to CYIFP, “Once again, we categorically wish to state that the entire Christians in Bauchi State are satisfied and felt protected by the administration of Governor Bala Mohammed more than any time in the history of the State since his emergence as Governor in 2019 to date, he has been the most Christian-friendly Governor,” The group declared.
It also appealed to those behind the allegations to reconsider their actions.
“We therefore enjoin individuals involved in such heinous and dirty politics to refrain from that and put first the progress and unity of Bauchi State ahead of anything else and also to embrace peace instead of confrontation and setting-up of wrong narratives of the State using false alarms.”
The group concluded by pledging loyalty to the governor.
“Lastly, we want to use this medium to express our profound support and unwavering loyalty to His Excellency, Governor Bala Mohammed and also want assure him of our confidence in his administration, owing to much he has done to the Christian communities in the State, the Holy Bible says “By their fruit’s we shall know them”; therefore Governor Bala Mohammed does not align with terrorists neither is he a financer of terrorism.”
