Former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, has warned political support group ADC Vanguard to stop attributing false statements to him.

In a post on his official X handle on Thursday, El-Rufai distanced himself from comments the group shared online.

“Dear ADC Vanguard, please stop fabricating statements and attributing them to me. I have my own social media accounts where I can share my views and opinions,” he wrote.

“I am going to disown the statements you created and attributed, not because I necessarily disagree with the message, but because I never made them. That is not the honest way to represent our party or gain traction. Please stop it forthwith,” he added.

The clarification came after ADC Vanguard, in a now deleted post, claimed El-Rufai had described President Bola Tinubu’s administration as “Nigeria’s most corrupt and dishonest government” that “loots shamelessly while deceiving confidently.”

Following the rebuttal, ADC Vanguard apologized to the former governor.

“Dear Mallam El-Rufai, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused. It was never our intention to misrepresent or attribute statements to you. We respect your voice and your platforms as the proper channels for your views,” the group said.

The group also pledged to rely only on verified and authentic sources in its future communications.
