‘Stop blocking my opportunities,’ Lilian Nneji warns career saboteurs

Nigerian gospel singer and minister Lilian Nneji has accused unnamed individuals of deliberately frustrating her career. They have done so by spreading false information about her availability for events, which she refers to as a form of Lilian Nneji sabotage.

According to Nneji, who made the allegations in an emotional video shared on her social media platforms, several event organisers had wanted to invite her to minister. However, these organisers were allegedly told that she was unavailable, travelling or on vacation.

Nneji questions claims about her whereabouts

The gospel singer said the issue came to her attention after about four people approached her within one week with similar stories. They all recounted unsuccessful attempts to invite her to their programmes.

“For the past one week, I have met about four persons in different places, and whenever they see me, I hear words like, ‘Oh, Minister Lilian, you are in town? We had a program, and we wanted to invite you. We reached out to some persons, and they said to us, you have travelled, you are on vacation,’” she said.

Nneji questioned where the information originated. She insisted that she had neither announced a vacation nor informed anyone that she was embarking on a tour.

“To some other persons, they’ve said that Lilian Nneji is busy travelling around, she’s on tour. Did I tell you I’m on tour? Did I announce to you that I’m on tour? Some of you know if I have to go on tour, I will post it,” she added.

Singer alleges deliberate career sabotage

Nneji alleged that the misinformation was being spread intentionally to prevent organisers from inviting her to their programmes. This ongoing Lilian Nneji sabotage has affected her career prospects significantly.

“Why would they want to invite me for a program, and you are telling them that I travelled, I went on vacation, when you have no information? Just because you don’t want them to invite me for the program,” she said.

She described the alleged conduct as “stylishly practicing witchcraft” and appealed to those responsible to stop interfering with her engagements.

The singer also rejected claims that she was no longer based in Lagos. She pointed to her longstanding connection with the state.

“Another person said, ‘Oh, Lilian Nneji, she’s not based in Lagos.’ For crying out loud, if Lagos was like any other country or some of these countries, I should have my citizenship because I was born here in Lagos,” she said.

Nneji responds to ‘proud’ and ‘snob’ claims

Beyond questions about her availability, Nneji addressed comments allegedly being made about her personality. These include claims that she was proud or difficult to approach. It is important to note that the rumours about her character are also linked to the Lilian Nneji sabotage she faces.

“Some said, ‘You are too proudful.’ Some said, ‘You are a snob.’ I don’t even care about all that because people would always say,” she said.

She also challenged people who claimed they could not contact her despite allegedly having access to her phone number.

“Some of you would even say, ‘Oh, I don’t have her number.’ Meanwhile, you get my number, you know how to reach me,” she added.

The singer also questioned why her ethnic background was being brought into discussions about invitations to minister.

“Another person said she’s an Igbo artist. Why are you reading my CV?” Nneji asked.

Nneji directs organisers to official contacts

Nneji advised churches, event organisers and others interested in inviting her to contact her team directly. They can do so through the official details displayed on her social media platforms. In short, Lilian Nneji sabotage has not stopped her from remaining accessible through proper channels.

“For everyone who wants to invite me for programs, the number you can call is on all my social media handles—it’s on IG, TikTok, YouTube, everywhere,” she said.

She assured organisers that her team remained active and would respond to genuine enquiries. Meanwhile, she appealed once again to those allegedly spreading false information about her.

“My team is active, we will give you a response. But I beg you, if you are the one doing this, stop it. It won’t take you anywhere,” she added.
