The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has urged area council chairmen within the territory to focus on developing their respective communities and remain present in their domains.
Wike made these remarks on Wednesday in Yangoji during the commencement of an 11-kilometre rural road construction project linking Sukuku Ebo and Yangoji communities in Kwali Area Council of the FCT.
“Stay in your communities and concentrate on your tasks. It’s essential to remain there and execute the work. I am committed to supporting you,” he emphasized.
He underscored the importance of rural development, highlighting its role in preventing urban issues. “If rural areas are neglected, it will create challenges for urban centers,” he added.
Wike pledged the continued collaboration between the FCT Administration and area council chairmen to propel rural development initiatives forward.
He further assured the completion of all unfinished projects across Abaji and other area councils, stressing the end of abandoned projects under his administration.
“Our focus is on revitalizing rural areas that have long suffered from neglect. This is an opportunity for rural communities to thrive. Neglecting rural development is tantamount to government failure,” he emphasized.
Wike clarified that interventions such as rural road construction and other infrastructure projects aimed to uplift rural communities align with President Bola Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda.
