Stand up for the champion, Atiku hails Joshua’s victory over Pulev

Former vice president, Atiku Abubakar has hailed Anthony Joshua after his defeat of mandatory challenger, Kubrat Pulev.

Abubakar reacted to the victory of the Nigerian-British boxer via his verified Twitter handle on Sunday afternoon.

The former presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said that the 31-year-old’s victory gives Nigerian a reason to be proud of their heritage.

“@anthonyfjoshua lifts our spirits, gives us another reason to be proud Nigerians. Stand up for the champion. #AJvsPulev,”  he tweeted.
Joshua defeated Bulgarian boxer, Pulev in a nine round thriller in front of a thousand fans at the SSE Arena in London on Saturday.
The win helped Joshua retain IBO, IBF, WBO and WBA heavyweight champion, and at the same time draws him closer to the potential undisputed fight with Tyson Fury.
