Wimbledon defeat extremely frustrating, says Andy Murray
Andy Murray has reacted to his shocking third-round elimination from the 2021 Wimbledon by world number 12 Denis Shapovalov in front of his home crowd on Friday.
The 34-year-old British tennis icon lost 6-4, 6-2, 6-2 to crash out at the stage for the first time in 16 years.
WuzupNigeria reported that the two-time former champion last suffered such defeat in 2005.
UK Guardian reports that the eight games Murray managed to win marks his worst defeat at Wimbledon.
Speaking after the upset by the Canadian tenth seed, Murray said that “This week has been really good in some ways, but it’s been frustrating too.”
Murray added, “I played two long matches, and it’s really significantly more than anything I have done in the last six months really. So if my game is not quite spot-on physically, I’m not perfect, or physically, like, really fresh, it’s going to be hard for me.
“It’s extremely frustrating, because, yeah, I feel like I put a lot of work into getting to this point, and then obviously to lose like that is tough.”
