Two-time world heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury, has vowed to be the ‘first one to join up’ for the army if the UK joins the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia.

Fury made the disclosure on Tuesday in London during a press conference for his upcoming WBC heavyweight title defence against Dillian Whyte who was refused to honour the media event.

The Gypsy King however took time to praise Oleksandr Usyk and the Klitschko brothers for joining Ukraine’s fight against Russia, according to UK Sun.

Reigning IBF, WBO and WBA heavyweight champion Usyk returned to his homeland on Thursday following the Russian invasion and has since joined the Kyiv Territorial Defense, pictured in military attire and carrying a rifle on Monday.

Pound-for-pound great Vasiliy Lomachenko has also joined defence forces in his hometown while former world champions Vitali and Wladimir Klitschko have vowed to take up arms.

And asked for his thoughts on the crisis in Ukraine and Usyk’s decision to join the fight, Fury insisted he and his family would immediately take similar action if the UK were to find itself in their position.

“It’s fantastic, I will be the first line to join up if England get involved or America I’ll be first in line for the job,” Fury said at Wembley Stadium.

“My Dad will as well and all the boys. we will all be signing up to defend.

“If you are from that country and living there, defend her. Love your woman and fight for your country is what I say.”

Lomachenko has also returned to fight.

Fury’s promoter Frank Warren also backed the move from Ukraine’s boxing stars, insisting “everybody’ should be standing up to Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

“Everybody should be absolutely pulling for Ukraine, standing up to the bully, standing up for democracy, those four fighters, two ex-fighters, everybody should be behind them it’s magnificent what they’re doing,” Warren said.

Warren also praised boxing’s decision to distance itself from Russia with the sport’s four major governing bodies calling for peace and refusing to sanction bouts on Russian soil.

“All the governing bodies have already come out and said that they won’t allow any fights to go on in Russia,” the promoter said.

“I think they were one of the first sports to do that while FIFA were dragging their heals.”
