Super Eagles land in Ghana for World Cup Play-off
The Super Eagles of Nigeria have arrived in Ghana for the first leg of their crucial World Cup play-off against the Black Stars.
Augustine Eguavoen’s men departed from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja aboard a chartered Air Peace aircraft on Thursday morning.
Nigeria will be hoping to edge their Ghanaian counterparts on Friday at the 20,000–capacity Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
Eguavoen’s men will be without Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndid and Sparta Rotterdam goalkeeper Maduka Okoye who is out with COVID and is expected to be fit for the second leg.
Nigeria will welcome the Ghanaians to the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja on Tuesday, March 29, from 6pm, for the second leg.
The winner over two legs will earn one of Africa’s five tickets to the 22nd FIFA World Cup finals, scheduled for November 14 to December 18, 2022, in Qatar.
