The Banyana Banyana defeated the Super Falcons 4-2 to lift the maiden edition of the Aisha Buhari Invitational Women’s Tournament.

Randy Waldrum's No.1 ranked African female team was downed in their backyard at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan on Tuesday.

The hosts were undone early in the match as the South Africans took a 2-0 lead after two unforced errors from the Super Falcons.

An own goal by Alozie Chidi in the sixth minute gave Desiree Ellis's side an early lead before the referee handed the visitors a penalty 11 minutes later.

The Falcons pulled one back in the 20th minute but the goal was disallowed for offside.

However, the South Africans went into the break 3-0 up after Gabriel Salgado netted the thrid in the 43rd minute.

The Falcons pulled two goals back in the second half through substitute Obianujunwa Ikechukwu by the 53rd minute to make the game 3-2.

However, the visitors were handed another penalty four minutes to the end of the game and Mamello Makhabane scored to seal a 4-2 victory for Bayana Bayana.
