Man City beat Chelsea to go joint-top of Premier League

Manchester City climbed up the Premier League ladder to second after a 1-0 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Pep Guardiola's side were held to a goalless draw against Southampton at the Etihad last week without registration a single shot on target.

However the defending champions dominated Thomas Tuchel's side with more shots on target in the first half which ended goalless.

Gabriel Jesus broke the deadlock with the eventual winning goal by beating Mendy in the 53rd minute.

City had more chances to double the lead but Mendy stood his ground on multiple occasions to deny the visitors another goal.

Thiago Silva also pulled a touchline save to deny Jesus a second before Mendy again notably denied Jack Grealish a clear cut chance later in the game.

City claimed the victory, a revenge of their 1-0 loss in the Champions League final, as they go joint-top of the summit with Liverpool who face Brentford later today.
