The Super Eagles of Nigeria secured a 2-1 comeback victory against Cape Verde in their second World Cup qualifying match on Tuesday.

Gernot Rohr's men were without Kelechi Iheanacho who scored both goals against Liberia last time and went behind in the 19th minute when Dylan Tavares beat Maduka Okoye with a close range effort.

However, the Eagles fought back 10 minutes later when Napoli's Victor Osimhen pulled one back for Nigeria.

Rocha Santos 76th minute own goal gave Nigeria the all-important three points as they go three points clear at the top of Group C.

The Super Eagles maintained a perfect form in their journey to Qatar 2022 with six points from two games.

Nigeria would face the Central Africa Republic next in a two-legged encounter in October.
