Nigeria began its World Cup qualifying campaign on a good note as Kelechi Iheanacho scored twice to sink Liberia 2-0 at the Teslim Balogun Stadium on Friday evening.
The Leicester City forward opened the scoring in the 22nd minute before doubling his tally in the 45th minute.
The victory places the Super Eagles on top of Group C ahead of Cape Verde and the Central African Republic who played a goalless draw in their opener.
Liberia meanwhile, sit button of the group with five more matches to go on the road to the showdown in Qatar next year.
Gernot Rohr's men head to Cape Verde for their second qualifying match on Tuesday.
