Joshua to face Usyk at Tottenham Stadium
The proposed world heavyweight title fight between Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk is set to be staged at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, local media reports.
Sky Sports reported that the 62,000 seated stadia has emerged as a preferred venue for the bout as both pugilists are engaged in talks over where the mandatory fight should hold.
All things being equal, the Britain’s WBA, IBF and WBO champion would face WBO mandatory challenger Usyk in the fight expected to be scheduled in September.
Recall that Joshua was billed to take on Tyson Fury for their highly anticipated undisputed world title fight that fell through last month.
As a result, the WBO ordered the unified champion to defend his titles against Usyk.
Meanwhile, Usyk’s promoter, Alexander Krassyuk, looks forward to finalising agreements with Joshua.
“We are waiting for King AJ’s decision whether he is brave enough to get dethroned,” he said.
He had previously told Sky Sports: “There are no visible obstacles to the deal not to take place,” he said last week.
