Iheanacho breaks silence on Leicester’s UCL blow

Super Eagles striker, Kelechi Iheanacho has expressed disappointment after Leicester City missed out on the Champions League competition on the final day of the 2020/21 Premier League season.

The Nigerian international failed to register a goal against Tottenham as his side fell to a 4-2 comeback victory for Spurs at the King Power Stadium last Sunday.

Iheanacho finished the 2020/21 EPL season with 12 goals in 25 appearances for the Foxes and the Nigerian was crucial to the FA Cup win against Chelsea.

It was an exceptional season for the 24-year-old who became the first player in the Premier League history to score a goal on all seven weekdays within a single season.

The Super Eagle also a list of elite Nigerian players who won a monthly award in the league by clinching the Premier League Player of the Month for May.

However, Iheanacho shared his disappointment over his team's inability to qualify for next season's Champions League.

In a tweet last night, Iheanacho said: "Disappointed to miss out on UCL qualification, we gave it all until the last moment. I'm proud of my team, winning the FA Cup was a dream for us. We'll use this as motivation to be back next season! Thanks to the fans for your support this season. Have a great Summer everyone."
