Captain of the Black Stars of Ghana, Andre Ayew, has reportedly had his expensive wristwatch stolen at the venue of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers playoffs first leg against the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
Ayew was said to have landed in Kumasi to motivate the Ghanaians ahead of the crucial game but was mobbed by excited Black Stars fans at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
However, the former Swansea star misplaced his expensive wristwatch in the process, according to Ghanasoccernet.com who confirmed Ayew’s presence in Kumasi.
Meanwhile, Ayew will not take part in the encounter due to a suspension after picking up a red card at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year.
Arsenal midfielder, Thomas Partey, will captain the Black Stars in Ayew’s absence.
Ghana will host the Super Eagles at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium Kumasi by 8:30 pm [Nigerian time] tonight [Friday].
The return leg will hold at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium Abuja on Tuesday, March 29, at 6:00pm Nigerian time.
