Germany survive Hungary test to enter last 16 of EURO 2020

Germany booked their spot in the knockout stages of the EURO 2020 championship after a 2-2 draw against Hungary.

The Hungarians were bent on spoiling the party for the Germans who stood their ground to share the spoils by coming from behind twice.

After a bright start to the tough encounter, Adam Szalai gave the Hungarians the lead in the 11th minute and they held on till the second half.

Chelsea’s Kai Havertz equalised for the Germans in the 66th minute but Andras Schafer restored Hungary’s lead two minutes after.

Leon Goretzka was the hero for Germany as the Bayern Munich star pulled one back for the Germans with just six minutes to the end of regular time.

Germany qualified for the knockout stages by finishing second in Group F to set up a Round of 16 encounter with England.
