Five-star Tottenham thump Newcastle to enter Champion League spot
Tottenham strolled into fourth on the Premier League table with a five-star performance against Newcastle United at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday evening.
Eddie Howe’s men were thrashed 5-1 despite drawing the first blood against Antonio Conte’s ruthless Spurs side.
Fabian Schär put the visitors ahead after 39 minutes but just when Newcastle thought they would enter the break with the advantage, Spurs struck back through Ben Davies 43rd minute.
Davies’ equaliser began the comeback and Matt Doherty flung the floodgates wide open three minutes into the second half before Son Heung-min (54′), Emerson Royal (63′) and Steven Bergwijn (83′) completed the rout.
