Manchester United manager, Ralf Ragnicj, gas vowed to field his best squad in Monday night’s FA Cup third-round clash against Aston Villa.

The Red Devils are already out of the Carabao Cup and are no way near the title race, leaving the FA Cup their only chance for a domestic trophy.

United who last won silverware in May 2017, when former manager Jose Mourinho lifted the UEFA Europa League, but they nowhere near ready for the daunting task against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League round of 16.

Following their setback against Wolves in their first game of the year 2022 there were rumours of a dressing room crisis at OId Trafford.

Although some players including captain Harry Maguire and Fred have denied the rumours, others like Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw admitted that the team’s performance on the pitch is of concern.

Speaking ahead of the clash, Ragnick whose team are looking to bounce back from the Wolves defeat said he will field a strong team.

“We will definitely not play with eight or nine different players,” the boss told MUTV’s Stewart Gardner. “Or even 10, as we did against Young Boys in the Champions League.

“We will try to play with the best possible team, with a strong team. There might be a few changes but I haven’t taken the final decisions yet myself. We will definitely try to play this game as if it was a normal Premier League or Champions League game.”

“I’ve always been a big fan, supporter and admirer of the FA Cup,” said Rangnick. “I remember back in 1980, when I spent my year abroad in Brighton, I watched the FA Cup final at Wembley, between West Ham and Arsenal.

“I’ve always been a big admirer of the atmosphere and, for me, it’s a very important competition. We will definitely try to play with our best possible team in this game and a strong team.

“We take the game as seriously as we can and hopefully get one round further ahead but in order to do that we have to be successful against Aston Villa. We know it will not be an easy game because, especially since they changed managers, they have been doing well.

“They won four games and lost four games, three of them against the top teams. So it needs a top performance from us to be successful.”
