FA Cup: Nottingham thrash defending champions Leicester 4-1

Published

FA Cup defending champions, Leicester City have been knocked out in the fourth round in a humiliating fashion by Championship side, Nottingham Forest.

The Foxes were ousted in a 4-1 thumping on Sunday at the King Power Stadium, becoming the second Premier League upset after Middlesbrough defeated Manchester United 8-7 on penalties at Old Trafford.

Forest had some tricks up their sleeves from the get-go and the visitors perfectly stunned their hosts by slotting in three goals in the space of eight minutes.

The Tricky Trees took the lead through Philip Zinckernagel in the 23rd minute before Brennan Johnson made it 2-0 one minute later.

Joe Worrall’s 32nd-minute goal made it 3-0 Steve Cooper’s side who roamed freely without a reply from Brendan Rodger’s Leicester.

The hosts would finally find a response five minutes before the break through Nigerian, Kelechi Iheanacho, who made it 3-1, hoping to begin a resurgence.

However, the Super Eagles forward’s goal only proved to be a consolation that came too early as the visitors orchestrated more damage in the second half.

Djed Spence completed the rout by making it 4-1 in the 61st minute and Forest held on to dump the defending champions in the fourth round.

Cooper’s side who lie eighth on the Championship table will face fellow EFL side, fifth-placed Huddersfield in the fifth round.
