Manchester United's interim manager, Ralf Rangnick, has expressed confidence that the Red Devils can still make the top four despite dropping two points against Leicester City.

Saturday's draw at Old Trafford meant that sixth-placed Man United are now three points behind fourth-placed Arsenal who have three matches in hand.

Despite beating fifth-placed Tottenham 3-2 in their last Premier League match before the international break, United are level on points with Antonio Conte's men who have two outstanding games.

Regardless of the odds which are obviously not in favour of the Manchester club, Ragnick is adamant that it is still mathematically possible for United to end their season in the Champions League spot.

“The picture for me is pretty clear. Not only now, but also a couple of weeks ago. Internally we have spoken about that already, but there is nothing else that I can say at this stage,” the German told Sky Sports.

Speaking further, he added, “The second half was the better one. We were struggling in the first half to find our rhythm after the international break. The reaction after the goal we conceded was good. In the last 15 minutes, we had two or three good moments when we could have scored the winning goal but didn’t.

'We are not happy with the result, but overall the second half was OK. We had to decide between playing Marcus as a striker or Paul Pogba in midfield, and we decided to start with Pogba. After 60 minutes we made the change and had a third striker, a central striker, on the pitch. It is no secret that Marcus was not full of confidence in the last couple of weeks. We decided to go for Paul. Our supporters are one of the best, if not the best, in England, and Harry played well, an almost flawless game today. As long as a top-four finish is mathematically possible, it is possible. We will do our very best to finish the season on a positive note.”
