EPL: Odegaard scores Arsenal’s second goal of the season

Published

New signing, Martin Odegaard, scored Arsenal’s second goal of the season after five matches with a beautiful freekick in the defeat of Burnley.

The Norweigian netted his first Arsenal goal after joining permanently from Real Madrid by beating Burnley’s Nick Pope from 25 yards out in the 30th minute.

Having scored their first goal of the season last week through Captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the Gunners were gunning to save their under-fire manager after conceding nine goals in their first three matches of the season.

WuzupNigeria reported that Arteta has until the end of September to improve results or lose his job as the Gunners’ manager after a poor start to the season.

Odegaard made all the difference at Turf Moor as Arteta’s side chalked up back-to-back 1-0 wins in the Premier League.

Sean Dyche’s side attempted to battle their way back into the game but Arteta’s men refused to crack under the late spell of pressure.

Arsenal are 13th in the league after two wins and five losses while winless Burnley remain in the relegation zone, 19th spot, after just one point from their opening five league matches.

The victory marks consecutive clean sheets for Arsenal as they build momentum ahead of Sunday’s north London derby against host arch-rivals Tottenham.
